At 0256hrs GMT on 21st June 1969, Neil Armstrong made history by becoming the first man to walk on the moon, followed at 0315hrs GMT by Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin.  As he stepped onto the lunar surface, Armstrong uttered the immortal phrase, "One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind."

Or did he? Previously unseen footage shows that his reaction was a damn sight less inhibited than history has recorded, and that perhaps a quick editing job was needed to prepare the astronaut's moment of glory for broadcast.

So here, for almost the first time, is the unedited NASA film from the Apollo 11 mission.  The images are pretty hard to see, but the whole point is actually the audio, not the video, so listen and enjoy!

Shamelessly ripped off from blogjam, who in turn apparently stole the audio from The Onion via The ECC.
